Laser hair removal works best when there is contrast between the hair color and the skin tone — the laser targets pigment in the hair, so darker hair responds most readily. After your session: Some redness and mild swelling around the follicles is normal and resolves within a few hours. Avoid sun exposure and apply SPF daily. Over the following 1 to 3 weeks, treated hairs will shed — this is normal and a sign the treatment worked.
